The Civil Guard sent Baltar's report to a court for a possible crime against road safety

Sources close to the president of Ourense assure that the 300 euros of the administrative fine have already been paid

The Civil Guard has forwarded to a court the speeding report of the president of the Ourense Provincial Council and the provincial PP, José Manuel Baltar, for a possible crime against road safety when driving last Sunday at 215 kilometers per hour on the A-52, at the height of the Zamorano municipality of Asturianos, in the direction of Madrid.

As reported to Europa Press by sources familiar with the police report, the Civil Guard agents filed a fine on the spot for an offense punishable by 600 euros and the withdrawal of six points, although said proposal has now been made subject to the court of Puebla de Sanabria (Zamora) rule on the possible crime against road safety.

Baltar did not identify himself as an authority nor did he reveal to the agents his position as president of the Provincial Council and the PP of Ourense. The traffic civil guards did not carry out a breathalyzer/drug test because they did not perceive symptoms or there was an accident, which would have made it compulsory to carry out the test.

For their part, sources close to the Ourensen president consulted by Europa Press have assured that Baltar has already paid the 300 euros of the administrative sanction, reduced by half for prompt payment. These same sources deny that the complaint was appealed, as they pointed out at first.

According to 'eldiario.es', the Civil Guard agents stopped a car belonging to the Ourense Provincial Council and that Baltar was driving on the A-52, as it passed through the municipality of Asturianos, last Sunday at 18.00 hours.

The 'popular' leader was heading to Madrid, where he had scheduled work meetings the next day. José Manuel Baltar was re-elected president of the PP of Ourense on September 26, 2021 with 99.24% of the votes cast in the 18th Provincial Congress. Since February 2012, he has been the president of the Ourense Provincial Council, thus succeeding his father, José Luis Baltar Pumar, who left this position after 22 years.
