The 2023 Iberdrola Women's Spanish Super Cup will be held in Mérida

MERIDA, 5 Dec. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Iberdrola Women's Spanish Super Cup will be held in Mérida from January 16 to 22, in a final four format, with the participation of Fútbol Club Barcelona, ​​Sporting de Huelva, Real Sociedad, and Real Madrid CF.

It will be the fourth edition with the current format of four that arrives for the first time in the capital of Extremadura thanks to the collaboration between the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the Board and the city council.

The matches will be played at the Romano José Fouto Stadium between January 16 and 22, 2023. Specifically, three matches will be played, two semifinals and the final, to decide the Spanish Super Champion team.

The Fútbol Club Barcelona will participate in this final four, for being the current champion of the domestic competition and of the SM La Reina Cup, Sporting de Huelva, for proclaiming runner-up in the cup tournament, Real Sociedad, for finishing in second position in Primera División and Real Madrid CF, for finishing third in the regular competition.

To date, with this new format, the culés lead the list of winners with two titles to their credit. For Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Sporting de Huelva it could be the first title in their history, reports the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in a press release.
