Talgo obtains the approval of the Danish Parliament for the extension of the contract with the railway operator DBS

MADRID, 23 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Talgo has obtained approval from the financial committee of the Danish Parliament for the extension of a contract with the Danish state railway operator, DSB, to manufacture eight additional Intercity 230 trains and their park parts, for an amount of 184 million euros.

This approval therefore complies with the existing precedent condition for the entry into force of the contract, as reported this Friday by Talgo to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

The Spanish company won the initial contract in February 2020 for the manufacture of eight trains for the line between Copenhagen and the German city of Hamburg, each with the capacity to travel at a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour and transport up to 440 passengers.

It was a framework agreement between Talgo and DSB for a maximum volume of 500 million euros. In 2021 they already agreed on a first extension of 16 additional cars.

Now, as the company informed the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) last April, DSB has decided to execute an option available in the contract to increase the scope of the contract with the supply of additional compositions and their maintenance.

DSB will thus double the initial fleet with new units that will provide greater capacity than initially planned. The entry into force of this order is subject to approval by the Danish Parliament.

With the signing of the framework agreement, the manufacturer assured that this order will contribute to the commitment that Denmark has made to cut its carbon emissions by 70% before 2030.
