Sumar faces the last day of negotiations pending Compromís and pending the decision of Podemos

The purple bases pronounce on the party consultation and one of the unknowns is the situation of Irene Montero

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The negotiations to form a candidacy for unity on the left around Sumar face the last day of the deadline to register the coalitions, which closes at midnight this Friday, with various formations already integrated and awaiting the decisions of the main formations of this space, such as Podemos or Compromís.

From the instrumental party they have expressed optimism and are convinced that there will be an agreement, despite the "complex puzzle" that involves bringing together a multitude of progressive parties, and they stressed that they were not going to wait until the deadline (which ends at midnight on Friday). to introduce the coalition.

However, and despite the fact that the scenario was not the one desired by any of the parties involved, especially after the hasty experience of the left-wing candidacy in Andalusia, the coalition negotiations last until the last day of the deadline.

In addition, in the case of the purple ones, the consultation of its bases remains to be resolved so that they can rule on the confluence and if it leaves full powers to the Executive to decide on the agreement, while in Compromís it is expected that the agreement with Sumar will also reach this Friday and be ratified by its highest governing body.

However, in both cases the outlook will be clear in the morning and it is estimated that there will be enough time to adjust the fringes in order to register an electoral coalition without rushing time.

So far, Sumar already has agreements and pre-agreements with Drago Canarias, Iniciativa del Pueblo Andaluz, Batzarre (Navarra), the Aragonese Chunta, Verdes Equo and Ara Més, a group from the Balearic Islands that was not at the event at the Antonio Magariños sports center for the launch of the candidacy of the Minister of Labor but who has chosen to join this broad front.

In addition, the adhesion of IU and En Comú Podem is taken for granted, since they are two of the main bastions of the second vice president's political project. On the other hand, the environmental group Alianza Verde also began talks with Sumar, without yet having communicated its final position.

Meanwhile, Más Madrid already agreed in a plenary session on Wednesday to support Sumar but with some conditions such as the preservation of its brand in the constituency and that its weight be reflected in the lists, in accordance with the results of 28M.

For their part, the different parties of Compromís (Més, Iniciativa and Verds-Equo) have convened the National Council this Friday, which must ratify the foreseeable agreement with the formation of Díaz to go in coalition to these elections, which is expected to have it by then tied. And similar to Más Madrid, it requires leadership of the lists in the Valencian Community and that your name appears on the ballot.

However, the surprise has been carried out by the Movement for Dignity and Citizenship (MDyC), which in the end will not join Sumar by deciding not to run for these elections and giving its bases freedom to vote on 23F.

Its leader Fatima Hamed was one of the leaders who did attend the Magariños act and has shown harmony with Díaz on several occasions, since she was present at the symbolic act in Valencia in November 2021 where the vice president, the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, and the leader of Más Madrid, Mónica García.

On the progressive level, as planned, Adelante Andalucía is not part of this process and has launched a consultation among its bases to decide how the party will attend these elections alone, where it asks if it will appear on a single Andalusian list in Seville or in Cádiz.

The biggest unknown so far is Podemos, which has expressly launched a consultation with the militancy that ends this Friday at 10:00 a.m. and which basically consists of the fact that the bases guarantee that the party Executive has the last decision on the negotiations and a possible deal with Sumar.

On the other hand, the purples have proposed a last-minute movement by proposing to go alone in the Valencian Community and join Sumar in the rest of the country, given the difficulties of reaching an agreement in that region with Compromís and appreciating vetoes in this formation . This option has been ruled out by Díaz's platform by ruling that it does not contemplate it.

The negotiations have continued throughout the day, where it has emerged that one of the obstacles is Valencia, although other voices involved in the process have also slipped that another point of friction would lie in the situation of the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, given that It is a benchmark for the purple party and it is suspected that other agents in the process do not want to grant it a presence on the lists or a prominent position.

However, from Sumar, through their campaign spokesman Ernest Urtasun, they have already stated that no exclusions apply to anyone and that the same position has been transferred by parties such as Compromís and Más Madrid, although the leadership of Podemos already warned on Monday that the vetoes " personal" was a way of torpedoing the unit.

The final day of the negotiations has also come in a turbulent week for Podemos and with various regional leaders such as Galicia, Navarra and Extremadura appealing for responsibility to reach an agreement with Sumar in the face of the general elections, emphasizing that the unity of the left it is necessary and essential. The Extremaduran leader, Irene de Miguel, urged those who did not want the path of unity to "step aside".

Yesterday, the current leader of Podemos Aragón, Maru Díaz, advanced that she will stop being coordinator of the purple formation after the general elections and that she will not collect her act of regional deputy after the "disastrous" result in the last 28M elections. Facing the generals and regarding the option of a broad front on the left, she called for "high vision", "generosity" and "humility".

On the other hand, a member of Podemos (Carlos Gil, who appears as a state citizen councillor) registered a new political party called 'Juntas Sí se Puede' at the Ministry of the Interior, indicating for this purpose the headquarters of the purple formation in Madrid.

The party quickly indicated that they were unaware of this maneuver, that it was an "error" and that they quickly acted to correct it by asking the Interior to delete it.
