Sumar closes the positions of Commons, Compromís and Más Madrid to the Europeans

Sumar has already outlined the bulk of the top positions on its list for the European elections, giving the number two candidate to the 'Commons', in the figure of its former deputy Jaume Asens, third place to Compromís and fifth place to More Madrid, after closing two agreements this Thursday.

However, the positions that other Sumar allied formations will have remain to be confirmed, such as IU and Verdes Equo, which also faced this process aspiring to a starting position in this candidacy.

Sumar had already communicated before Easter that it proposed Estrella Galán, until now director of the Spanish Commission for Refugee Assistance (CEAR), as head of the list, but had yet to specify the rest of the positions and positions that corresponded to the parties. .

After days of negotiations between the formation led by the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, and the main parties of the coalition forged in the 23J elections, the 'Comunes' and Compromís have achieved the two places that follow the first place, which were very quoted by other of its allies. Fifth place in the end goes to Más Madrid, which last night reported an agreement after an intense dialogue with Sumar.

The intention, according to various sources familiar with the contacts, is to try to settle the candidacy positions this week and focus all the focus on the last week of the electoral campaign in Euskadi, where Sumar is risking having representation and wants to go with an aura of consensus on the list to the Europeans.

Contacts with allied parties by Sumar are directed, as on other occasions, by the executive coordinator Josep Vendrell.

Thus, now it remains to define the fourth position in the candidacy, another of the places that various formations consider as a starting position and which, at this time, it has not been defined if it will be for any of the remaining formations or if in the end it is a quota by Sumar.

In the case of IU, which had demanded an exit position (even asking for 'two') and complained that contacts were at a standstill, it is waiting to hold a meeting to clarify its position, according to sources. knowledgeable about contacts. In this sense, they point out that he could be a candidate for that fourth place, but that this extreme is not confirmed and is only in the realm of possibility.

However, in sectors of this organization, which will have its congressional process in May, they do not hide some discomfort about the outcome of this Thursday and finding out about positions on the list in the press. This Friday they will also analyze the situation internally.

Other sources involved in the negotiations suggest that Sumar has proposed a position for Verdes Equo that is not an exit position and that the environmental group has proposed a position rotation with another member chosen from the candidacy, so that they can have a representative during part of the community legislature.

In turn, Compromís has achieved its objective in this process, given that it had set as its priority having a place (among the top four) that would ensure the Valencian party a MEP in the next legislature. And they understood that it was fair after giving up having a presence in the Government due to Sumar's quota.

The 'commons', who have shown clear harmony with Sumar since Díaz promoted the project, get second place for Asens, who was designated as their main candidate and has also played key responsibilities in Sumar.
