Madrid, March 24, 2024.- First European Grand Prix, first Spanish double of the 2024 season. The Spanish motocross Grand Prix will go down in history for being the first time that two Spaniards not only win, but also win. They go from Madrid with the red plaque of World Cup leaders. And they could not be other than Jorge Prado and Daniela Guillén. The intu Xanadú circuit in Arroyomolinos vibrated like never before throughout the day on Sunday, giving that extra point of strength to our team to reach the top. 30,150 people have experienced a historic weekend that will remain etched in their retinas.

Living history of Spanish motocross. That is what Jorge Prado has become throughout his career. It is not for less. Three world titles behind him, a promising debut in American supercross and now, a perfect start to the season. The man from Lugo has been the undisputed winner of the highest category, finally being able to celebrate the triumph of the Spanish Grand Prix with the public. And, although he already won in the first edition in 2020, one of his goals was to be able to repeat this victory with his followers. Today, finally, the day has arrived. Qualifying round, holeshot, races... Prado has won everything in Madrid and he has dedicated it to those thousands of dedicated attendees who have celebrated with him his state in an unbeatable way. With only two races, the GASGAS driver is already the top favorite to win the title.

Guillén on top of the world

Daniela Guillén's thing is also from another galaxy. For the first time in the World Championship, she added a double in the heats, which made her finish as winner of the Spanish Grand Prix. A dream come true for the Lloret de Mar rider who has made a leap in quality since last season. The red badge stays at home again, as she already did at the start of the last World Cup, but this time in front of her audience. Guillén is in spectacular physical shape, which shows that she has worked hard this preseason to abandon the title of runner-up and try to achieve her first World Cup. For now, with this victory, the start could not be better. “The public's support has helped me finish each round with that extra energy. “It has been an incredible Grand Prix,” said the driver. After a resounding victory on Saturday, on Sunday he made the public vibrate with two truly heart-stopping last laps with Lotte van Drunen, who tried until the end and barely crossed the finish line a few thousandths behind Guillén.

A historic Spanish Grand Prix

The other big category of the weekend, MX2, ended with the victory of Kay de Wolf. The Dutchman shared the heats with the current champion Andrea Adamo and retains the red plate after the Spanish Grand Prix. Oriol Oliver was 14th and David Braceras 15th.

In the 250cc European championship, victory finally fell to Valerio Lata, while the best Spanish finisher was the Ibizan Elías Escandell, who managed to place himself in seventh position. He was closely followed by Fran García, eleventh.

The great Spanish motocross festival thus closes a historic weekend, in which everyone who was at the Spanish Grand Prix at the intu Xanadú circuit was able to experience an unrepeatable day. Full of triumphs for the favorites, who were able in the end to return to the fans all the affection they have dedicated to them in recent years in Madrid with spectacular triumphs. Without a doubt the progress of a successful season for Spanish motocross, which after passing through the Community of Madrid will return to our country on May 11 and 12 for the Grand Prix of Galicia at the Jorge Prado Municipal Circuit in Lugo.
