Spanish Left signs Soraya Rodríguez and other former members of the PSOE and IU for its European lists

MADRID, 10 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of the Spanish Left, Guillermo del Valle, presented this Wednesday the first ten names that will accompany him to the European elections on June 9. Among these positions are the former spokesperson for the PSOE in the Congress of Deputies Soraya Rodríguez, the former socialist MEP María Muñiz de Urquiza and the former spokesperson for Izquierda Unida in the Parla City Council, Juan Ramón Duarte.

In this way, the list led by Valle would have Rodríguez as 'number two', Juan Ramón Duarte as 'number six' and María Muñiz de Urquiza as 'number seven', as announced by the general secretary of the party in a Press conference.

The rest of the members are made up of members of the party manager such as Laura Rodríguez Montecino, third on the lists; Javier Maurín, 'number four'; and Marc Luque, in tenth place; and by professors such as Ricardo García Manrique, in fifth position; and Carlos Conde Solares, 'number eight' on the lists. Additionally, in ninth place, the feminist activist Paula Fraga is presented.

Thus, the party aims, according to del Valle, to have a "vocation of majorities to occupy a broad and left-wing political space" being a "determining political actor" that enters "with all possible force in the European Parliament" to "defend the left that includes the principles that the PSOE no longer respects".

Likewise, the secretary general has explained that the Spanish Left addresses a "structural problem" of the "official" left in Spain and has charged against the current drift of an "unrecognizable" PSOE that has become a "personal platform" for Sánchez , while criticizing the lack of credibility of the Executive because "it is not credible to warn against the extreme right in the European Parliament when Spain is governed with Mr. Salvini's partners", in reference to the "extreme right" Junts party.

"We come to be a decisive and important political actor in Spanish politics and we want to attend, starting with the European elections, the different electoral calls that exist in Spain because there is a structural need," del Valle added.

Furthermore, the candidate for the European elections has established positions of his party such as support for the two-state solution for the Gaza war and against the "crimes" of Hamas and Israel in this same war or against everything type of nationalism and independence.
