The first vice president and acting minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, addressed this Tuesday with her Moroccan counterpart, Nadia Fettah, the bilateral relationship between the countries, also calling for economic cooperation and entrepreneurship and female leadership.

It was during a work day within the framework of the Annual Assemblies of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Marrakech.

Among the issues addressed with Minister Fettah, the vice president has conveyed her solidarity with Morocco and with those affected by the earthquake and has followed up on the High Level meeting between Spain and Morocco held in February in Rabat.

Both ministers have also referred to the relevance of the Annual Assemblies of the IMF and the World Bank taking place in Marrakech, being the first time they have been held on the African continent since the edition that took place in 1973 in Nairobi, Kenya, 50 years ago. years.

The ministers have also celebrated the designation of Spain, Portugal and Morocco to organize the celebration of the 2030 Football World Cup.

Next Saturday, at the end of the Annual Assemblies of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, the acting first vice president will meet with the country's prime minister, Aziz Akhannouch.

On the other hand, also prior to the celebration of these Annual Assemblies, which are held in Africa for the first time since 1973 - they take place every three years outside of Washington - the vice president has promoted a dialogue with Moroccan businesswomen in areas such as innovation , textile, tourism, transportation or agri-food.

The group of businesswomen has been led by the president of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Morocco (AFEM),*Leila Doukali, and has had the presence of outstanding Moroccan entrepreneurs in leading economic sectors.

On behalf of AFEM, its two vice presidents Souad Maadir (business management and commercial development) and Badiaa Bitar (textile sector) attended; the general secretary, Sofia Tahiri (vehicle rental sector); the delegate in Marrakech and Honorary Consul of Spain in Marrakech, Khadija Ghabssi (tourism sector) and Amina Oudghiri (agri-food sector).

Businesswomen Rita Zniber (agri-food sector) and Hayat Akefli (digital sector and graphic design) have also participated, as well as the president of the Tanja Foundation for Spanish-Moroccan collaboration, Rosa Cañadas, and the vice president of the CEOE, Alejandra Kindelán.

During the meeting, the progress made by the Government of Spain in terms of gender equality, which is one of the basic axes of the Recovery Plan, and support for women entrepreneurs, was highlighted, highlighting what has been achieved in areas such as the business digitalization process or the development of digital skills.

"Meetings like today's are key to promoting female leadership in the economic field and the representation of women in the economy and jobs of the future. The Spanish Government supports exchanges between businesswomen from Spain and Morocco to consolidate the support network and collaboration between women from both countries and the position of women in the business sector," said the acting first vice president.
