Sánchez will appear in Congress next week and the following week he will debate Feijóo in the Senate

MADRID, 11 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will appear on the 19th in plenary session of Congress to report on the latest European Councils, the situation in Ukraine and Spain's relations with Morocco and the following week, specifically on the 25th, He will go to the Senate where he will hold a new debate with the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, all in the midst of the pre-campaign of the regional and municipal elections on May 28.

This was agreed on Tuesday by the Boards of Spokespersons of each of the Chambers, in charge of designing the agendas of the aforementioned plenary sessions.

Specifically, on Wednesday the 19th, Sánchez will render an account in Congress on the issues that had been pending in the Lower House for weeks.

It was on February 21 when the Board of Spokespersons gave free rein to two requests to appear registered by the PP so that the Chief Executive could report on Spain's commitments in relation to the war in Ukraine and on the agreements reached in the last bilateral summit with Morocco, especially around the Sahara.

These requests from the first opposition party had the support of Vox and Ciudadanos, but also of Unidas Podemos and government allies such as ERC and the Plural and Mixed Groups. In the end, they were also backed by the PSOE, according to what sources from the Popular Group pointed out at the time.

For his part, at the end of March, Sánchez himself requested to appear to report on the conclusions of the latest European Council meetings. Specifically, the extraordinary event that took place on February 9 as well as the one that was held on the 23rd and 24th of last month.

And a week later, Sánchez will lead a debate in the Senate also on the economic and social consequences of the war in Ukraine and the measures adopted by the Executive to alleviate its effects. This was confirmed by the first vice president of the Upper House, Cristina Narbona.

The also president of the PSOE has stressed that this will be the fifth appearance at the president's own request in the Senate so far this legislature -- which has added to the 15 control sessions to which he has attended.

For her part, the general secretary of the Socialist Group in Congress, Isaura Leal, has estimated Sánchez's appearances in the Lower House at 26 in this period and has puffed up the 192 that, according to what she has said, the entire Government has accumulated since the beginning of the legislature.
