Sánchez on Sumar and Podemos: "I want all the pieces of the puzzle to fit together"

ROME, 5 Apr. (EUROPA PRESS) - (From special envoy Daniel Blanco)

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, stated this Wednesday regarding the relationship between Podemos and the Sumar platform that he is very respectful of the internal dynamics of the parties but wants all the pieces of the puzzle to fit together.

In an informal conversation with the journalists who are accompanying him on a tour of Cyprus, Malta and Italy, Sánchez stated that at the Sumar event last Sunday, in which the Second Vice President and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, made official his candidacy for the general elections, many of the pieces of the puzzle fit together, since more than 10 different political parties showed their support for Díaz.

"I want all the pieces of the puzzle to fit together," he then stated in reference to Podemos, which did not attend the Sumar event and for the moment has not signed an agreement with Díaz to join its platform.

Sánchez has made it clear that he makes these statements out of the utmost respect for the internal life of other political forces other than the PSOE and that it is not his style.

On the other hand, he has been questioned about whether the discrepancies between Podemos and Sumar can affect the performance of the Government in the remaining months of the legislature, since Díaz and the ministers of Podemos, Ione Belarra and Irene Montero, coexist in the Council of Ministers.

In this regard, he has responded by valuing the work of the entire Executive and, in particular, has once again highlighted the milestone that, in his opinion, has to have approved the pension reform with social peace. For Sánchez, in the recent motion of censure, a government was seen that manages with a clear project against a "disoriented" right.

At the moment, Podemos and Sumar have not reached an understanding on how to integrate, and they reached the date last Sunday, marked in red by Díaz, without being able to resolve their discrepancies.

Meanwhile, from the socialist wing of the Government they have been insisting on the advisability that all the forces to the left of the PSOE unite under a single candidacy
