Sánchez and Díaz coordinate against Abascal, who accuses them of worrying about the end of the world and forgetting families

The PSOE and Sumar candidates say that the Vox candidate "represents" Feijóo and vindicates the economic data of the legislature

The PSOE and Sumar candidates for the general elections, Pedro Sánchez and Yolanda Díaz, have coordinated this Wednesday in their attacks on the Vox leader, Santiago Abascal, whose program they have also constantly equaled that of the PP president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, absent in the debate. Abascal has responded to these attacks, accusing them of worrying about "the end of the world" but of forgetting the reality of Spanish families.

The candidates for the general elections this Sunday have begun the debate held this Wednesday on RTVE, opposing their proposals on economic matters. The Vox leader has accused his opponents of "lying" with an "indulgence" of "conveniently manipulated or directly false" data.

"Feijóo and Abascal want to make the world of work and the economy go back 50 years ago," Yolanda Díaz responded, advancing the strategy that she has followed throughout the bloc of matching the leader of Vox with that of the Popular Party. At the same time, Sánchez and Díaz have coordinated their attacks, supporting mutual affirmations or recognizing measures adopted in the coalition government.

In this context, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has compared Abascal with Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro in his position of denying climate change, while the latter has made him ugly that the Executive announces "the end of the world" when the Spaniards "do not make ends meet".

For Sánchez, "denying the climate emergency is like denying that the Earth is round", something that "fans" like the former presidents of the United States and Brazil, Trump and Bolsonaro, respectively, do. On this point, the head of the Executive has indicated that, according to the United Nations, Spain is "one of the main countries that may suffer the consequences" of climate change.

But Abascal has rejected that laws such as the one on climate change, approved in 2021, help in the daily life of the Spanish. According to the leader of Vox, "it does not reach the refrigerators of the Spaniards, it does not reach the electricity meters, it does not reach the cash registers of the shops and it does not reach the pockets of the Spaniards."

"In fact, their positions are not understood by the Spanish either," summarized Abascal, who has blamed Sánchez that the PSOE "must stand for elections somewhere else" other than Spain. "They are talking all day about the end of the world and they are forgetting about the Spaniards who do not make it to the end of the month because that climate law prevents the exploration and exploitation of our own resources," he added.

Díaz has also focused a large part of his speech in this first block on climate change and has maintained that on the 23rd there is a choice between two country models: "The one that the Lord and you (Abascal) defend, a model that kills people, destroys jobs and causes low wages; or the Sumar model that includes the creation of green jobs".

END THE ENERGY OLIGOPOLY

The leader of Sumar has also alluded to the fact that five large multinationals that "have just distributed 19,000 million" concentrate energy production in Spain, something that "cannot be assumed when there are thousands of families who cannot pay the bill." In Díaz's opinion, this "oligopoly" cannot continue to exist and she has reproached Abascal for "defending" it and "agreeing" with Feijóo on it.

Pensions have also been on the table, which Sánchez and Díaz have reproached Vox and the PP for not having supported. In addition, the socialist candidate has taken the opportunity to recall the rectification that Feijóo had to make after saying that the PP "always" revalued pensions according to the CPI and then qualified that statement and specified that his formation "raised them every year", without linking that rise to inflation.

In addition, the PSOE and Sumar candidates have vindicated the labor reform. "We have to continue doing things but we are going in the right direction", Sánchez has maintained, acknowledging Díaz's leadership in this law at the same time that he has charged the PP for seeking a vote against "two defectors" from UPN. "This demonstrates the PP's commitment to Spain, they are capable of buying votes from two defectors in Congress to take away workers' rights," he denounced.

"If it were up to you, the companies and workers of this country would have been ruined," shared the leader of Sumar. "It's true, we haven't supported them at all," Abascal replied. "And if we've ever made a mistake, it's when we've abstained."

"BILDU DID NOT SUPPORT THE LABOR REFORM"

However, the Vox leader has indicated that the government has not needed his support and has relied on "Bildu's patriotism" to carry out measures such as the labor reform. "Bildu voted with you against the labor reform," recalled Yolanda Díaz. "First find out, Mr. Abascal, Bildu voted against," Sánchez explained.

Díaz has also said that he has studied Vox's electoral program "very well" and has warned that the general lowering of taxes that he proposes would cause a "collapse" of the country, as has already happened to "his friends" in the United Kingdom and online to his "friend" Giorgia Meloni in Italy. In addition, he has accused Vox of wanting the return of "junk contracts" for young people, the prohibition of new ones or collective bargaining.

Faced with this, Abascal has claimed that a tax cut causes an increase in collection in the medium term and has denounced that the employment figures provided by the Executive "hide" realities, such as the fact that "less hours are worked" and wages are therefore "lower", data that Díaz has also said is false.

Sánchez also recalled the "difficulties" of this legislature, which began with the pandemic and during which the war in Ukraine has also been experienced; and he has warned that the government's measures have been "pans and pots", the "anti-vaccine and denialists", who "tried to boycott the Iberian solutions" and have been "opposing everything".

EXPENDITURE REDUCTION

For his part, Abascal has insisted that all government data "does not reach homes", it is "powerful" data that families "do not notice". And he has insisted on the need for a tax cut and elimination of positions that is offset by the reduction of political spending, subsidies to parties or unions and the elimination of lobbies or "destructive spending."

"That you tell us about this coming from the beach bar where you come from," Díaz replied, who has also assured that Vox receives ten million euros of public subsidy. "Apply consistency," he has asked the Vox leader.
