Sánchez accuses Feijóo of manipulating and undermining trust in the institutions with his statements about Correos

He says he is a "principled" politician who rebels against Feijóo's "string of lies" and his "whitewashing" of Vox

MADRID, 12 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the Government and PSOE candidate for the elections, Pedro Sánchez, has accused the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo of manipulating and undermining the confidence of citizens in the institutions due to his statements about the Post Office.

This same Wednesday, at a rally in Murcia, Feijóo has asked the postmen to work "tomorrow, day and night" to deliver the vote by mail, since today is the last day to request it. What's more, he has promised to pay them overtime if he governs for "compliance with his duty."

He has also asked the postmen, "regardless of their bosses", to "distribute all the votes before the deadline for Spaniards" to be able to vote and exercise "their constitutional rights".

Sánchez has been questioned about these statements at the press conference after the NATO summit held in Vilnius (Lithuania) and has framed Feijóo's words in the "manipulations" that in his opinion the PP has been deploying throughout the legislature.

Although he has admitted that he was not aware of Feijóo's statements, he has pointed out that in recent years he has suffered an opposition based on lies, manipulation and evil.

In this sense, he has placed the words of the leader of the PP in the "manipulations" that "undermine the confidence of the people in the institutions."

Along the same lines, he has indicated that the PP's lies were seen in Feijóo's statements in the 'face to face' debate that both candidates held last Monday. The evils, as he has indicated, are reflected in the proclamations that PP leaders continue to make and that "injure many victims who have suffered the blow of terrorism", he has reproached.

Sánchez has also been questioned about the aforementioned debate with Feijóo and if he plans to change his strategy after the result he produced.

The PSOE leader has responded by stating that he considers himself a politician "with principles" and "strong convictions" who rebels when "a string of lies" is said -as in his opinion the leader of the PP did- and whitewashes a "macho" party like Vox with the pacts it has signed with the PP in town halls and autonomous communities.

Along the same lines, he has indicated that he also rebels against the "blatant" use of terrorism which, as he has indicated, is breaking "the unity around the victims."

Therefore, although he does not know if these complaints have electoral results or not, he considers that he should denounce this type of attitude because it is part of his obligations as President of the Government and also as General Secretary of the PSOE.

Thus, he has reiterated that in the next general elections on July 23 the country is at stake for something more than political alternation, if Spain continues to advance or enters a time tunnel that does not know where it can lead and of which an aperitif is being seen with the pacts between PP and Vox in town halls and communities.
