Santos Cerdán and Puigdemont meet in a room with a photo of a 1-O ballot box, removed by the European Parliament

The Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán, and the former president of the Generalitat of Catalonia Carles Puigdemont met this Monday in a room in which there is a large photograph with a group of young people raising a ballot box in the illegal referendum on October 1, 2017. This photograph was recently removed by the European Parliament for going against the rules of the community institution.

In the images released by PSOE and Junts, both in video and photo, the painting with the complete photograph is not visible. By focusing on only part of it, the urn is not visible, although the photograph corresponds to the painting called 'Catalonia's contribution to the social and political progress of the EU'.

The meeting took place in the offices that the deputies of Junts per Catalunya/Lliures per Europa have in the European Parliament, as reported by sources from both parties, and in addition to the number 'three' of the PSOE and Puigdemont, there were the general secretary of Junts per Catalunya, Jordi Turull, the president of the PSOE group in the European Parliament, Iratxe García-Pérez, and the head of the socialist delegation in the European Parliament, Javier Moreno.

And on the wall where Puigdemont and Turull were there was this painting, which corresponds to a large photograph, which was taken during the illegal referendum of October 1 in Catalonia, where several young people lift a ballot box with smiles.

In September, the European Parliament decided to remove this image from a promoted exhibition installed at its headquarters in Brussels, after verifying that the photograph was included after the exhibition was authorized and that it goes against the rules of the community institution.

The services of the European Parliament decided to reevaluate the situation of the image after verifying the irregularity, although later "several complaints" also arrived warning that this installation showed an image of one of the ballot boxes used during 1-O, among them, a complaint presented by the Citizens delegation in the European Parliament through a letter to the College of Quaestors considering that it "endorses the unconstitutional referendum organized in Catalonia in 2017.
