Russia says 'it's hard to describe' Wagner Group rebellion as 'anything more than a problem'

Lavrov stresses that the country "always emerges stronger from problems" and adds that "it will also be the case this time"

MADRID, 30 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government of Russia has affirmed this Friday that the country "always comes out of problems stronger" and has stressed that the rebellion led last weekend by the head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeni Prigozhin, "can hardly be described as something more what a problem."

"Russia always overcomes all problems, and it is difficult to talk about this (the Wagner Group rebellion) as anything more than a problem," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. "It will also be the case this time. We feel that the process has already started," he said.

Likewise, he has rejected the possibility of giving explanations to Western countries about what happened and has argued that "if someone in the West has doubts about the stability of Russia, it is their problem," according to the Russian news agency TASS.

"Russia is not obliged to give any guarantee to the world that the country is not heading towards chaos after this failed attempt at armed rebellion," Lavrov has defended, stressing that Moscow is acting "transparently" in the face of events, as and as reported by the Russian newspaper 'Izvestia'.

Prigozhin led a rebellion on June 24 that included the advance of his forces towards the capital, Moscow, although hours later an agreement was reached that involved the withdrawal of the members of the Wagner Group and the withdrawal of charges for those involved. In addition, Prigozhin would move to Belarus, where he is already.
