Russia says it has "two thirds" of the city of Bakhmut under its control

MADRID, 17 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported this Monday that "two thirds" of the city of Bakhmut, in the east of the country and of great importance in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, have been "liberated" by Russian forces and are now under their control.

The spokesman for the Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, has indicated that these areas are located in the northwest and the center of the city and that the Ukrainian forces have had to withdraw from these areas in just one day, as the agency has reported. TASS Russian news outlet.

Konashenkov's words have come shortly after the Wagner Group, made up of mercenaries, claimed to have taken much of control of the city. Thus, they have affirmed that the Russian troops are advancing towards Donetsk, where the confrontations continue.

Konashenkov, for his part, has pointed out that the bombardments have allowed the Ukrainian forces to be hit in areas of Chasiv Yar, Bogdanovka and Konstantinovka, in the Donetsk region.
