Russia observes a minute of silence on the official day of mourning for the victims of the Moscow attack

This Sunday, Russia began its official day of mourning for the 133 provisional deaths from last Friday's attack on the Crocus City Hall events pavilion, on the western outskirts of Moscow, while more than a hundred injured people are still hospitalized due to the worst terrorist attack in the contemporary history of the capital.

While all the country's institutions and its diplomatic missions abroad have lowered flags to half-mast, Moscow citizens continue to lay flowers in the vicinity of the event center because the perimeter is cordoned off and patrolled by canine groups and members of the National Guard Russia while rescue services continue to clear debris from the building, destroyed by the fire caused by the assailants.

In a message posted on their website, the owners of the pavilion and its concert hall -- where attackers shot hundreds of attendees indiscriminately for fifteen minutes -- have declared their intention to rebuild the venue.

"The Russian company Crocus International, owner of the Crocus City Hall concert hall, expresses its deepest condolences for the terrorist attack. We will never forget those who were victims of the terrorists. What was destroyed by their dirty hands will be restored," says the message.

The main federal media outlets will modify their broadcast schedules on the occasion of the national day of mourning and all Russian federal museums have observed a minute of silence at noon, Moscow time (10:00 in Spain).

Eleven people have been arrested in connection with the attack, including the four alleged perpetrators of the shooting, as announced yesterday by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
