Robles denies that the investigation of CNI agents is going to affect the relationship between Spain and the US

MADRID, 7 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, ruled out this Thursday that the investigation into the revelation of secrets to agents of the National Intelligence Center (CNI) for allegedly leaking information reserved for the United States will affect the relationship between the United States and Spain because they are " allies and friends."

"In no case," he stated before journalists when asked during a visit by the Guadarrama "firm": "We are serious, allied and committed countries."

Robles explained that the investigation of the agents arose as a consequence of the CNI's own work, since it detected that a series of "irregular conduct" was being carried out that could be the cause of a crime.

Some words that come after it was made public this Thursday that both the Robles ministry and the Foreign Ministry of José Manuel Albares agreed to the expulsion of at least two American spies stationed at the United States Embassy in Madrid for being involved in the recruitment and purchase of CNI agents.

It was Robles herself who confirmed this Monday that a judge had initiated the investigation at the request of the CNI and currently the case is in the hands of the Plaza de Castilla courts (Madrid).
