Renfe has issued a total of 1.88 million free passes in Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia, as well as 50% discounted Avant passes, for trips between May 1 and August 31, 2023, according to information from Europa Press in company sources.
Of the total number of free multi-journey tickets issued in the first two months of this four-month period, almost 1.38 million correspond to passes for travel in the different Cercanías, Rodalies and Cercanías Metric Gauge hubs, while some 440,000 passes are for Medium Distance journeys. .
In addition to the free subscriptions for recurring customers, Renfe has sold more than 65,000 tickets with 50% discounts from Avant to be used on high-speed Media Distancia services.
Free subscriptions can be purchased throughout the validity period of the titles, that is, until August 31. To expedite the processing, your purchase can be made through the Renfe Cercanías app, and in the case of Media Distancia passes through the website 'www.renfe.com' and other usual sales channels (stations and machines self-sale).
To do this, the client must be previously registered and, although it is free, it is necessary to deposit a deposit of 10 euros in the case of Cercanías and Rodalies, and 20 euros for each conventional Media Distancia service.
Payment by card allows the automatic return of the deposit, once it is verified that the condition of having made 16 trips during these four months has been met.
