Santiago de Compostela, January 31, 2024.- The technology company Plexus Tech reinforces its commitment to people's technology by promoting the Chair of Artificial Intelligence in Personalized Precision Medicine. In collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Singular Center for Research in Intelligent Technologies (CITIUS), it keeps the company at the forefront of innovation in the healthcare field. Plexus Tech, with more than 3,500 professionals, has a presence throughout the national territory in the hospital and health field and leads European projects in all technological fields. This Chair, created as a result of the necessary university-business collaboration, is an example of its innovative commitment that will finance training, supported by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and supported by the Galician Health Service (SERGAS).
"We understand technology as a great tool that only has a place to improve the world. Being part of this Chair is a challenge and at the same time a commitment of our teams and our company. It makes us feel proud and at the same time grow as professionals to achieve something much bigger than a project. Something that without knowing it can reach thousands of people who will benefit from this effort," explains Antonio Agrasar, founder and CEO of Plexus Tech.
With a total funding of 1.2 million euros, the AI Chair in Personalized Medicine has been the only one in Spain on this topic, obtaining significant support from the Central Government, through the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (ENIA) and in the Digital Spain 2026 agenda, as well as in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Among the scientific experts who endorse this Chair, the participation of the directors of five of the leading research centers in Spain stands out: the scientific director of IDIS, María Luz Couce; Rosa María Crujeiras, director of CITMAga; the director of CiMUS, Mabel Loza, the director of the National Genotyping Center-ISCIII, Ángel Carracedo, and Senén Barro, director of the Singular Center for Research in Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS). "There is a general consensus on the fact that Artificial Intelligence is called to revolutionize Personalized Precision Medicine and, by extension, the development of the medicine of the future. Therefore, the goal is the health and quality of life of people, but in the middle are machines and intelligent technologies," says Senén Barro, director of the Chair and CITIUS.
