Sustainability gains a lot of importance during this summer, and is among the main trends in world tourism. Travelers are increasingly looking for ways to travel responsibly, minimizing their impact on the environment and engaging in authentic experiences with the local community.

Ibiza, August 16, 2023.- Tourism is a dynamic industry, and it is continually evolving and adapting to new trends and changes in traveler habits and preferences. Contributing to generating a positive impact in the territory, the implementation of new technologies, unique experiences, tailor-made trips and active tourism are some of the current trends facing the global tourism industry and also in Spain.

In 2023, travelers are increasingly looking to discover new destinations, away from the crowds and the most popular places. This implies that they are increasingly oriented towards emerging and alternative destinations, which offer authenticity and diverse activities together with local communities during their stay. People seek to travel with more quality than quantity. They prefer to make longer and less frequent trips, making the most of their time and budget.

With the mission of analyzing these new trends and turning current challenges into opportunities, from October 18 to 20, HIC Summit will bring together renowned professionals, destinations and , scientists and companies. It is worth noting the participation in the conferences of Jorge Abian, internationally award-winning entrepreneur and businessman, outdoor sports enthusiast, creative director and travel photographer, Alpidio Armas, President of the El Hierro Council, Álvaro Sanz, chef of Es Tragon, first Michelin Star restaurant in Ibiza, Luigi Cabrini, President of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and Amaia Rodríguez, Co-founder of Gravity Wave.

Since 2019, HIC has had more than 100 speakers and 3,500 attendees, in person and virtually, who have contributed to getting the message across to more than 40 countries in the world. In 2023, one more year since biza, HIC Summit will bring together the main professionals and entities that provide solutions, inspiration and innovation to transform the tourism model and build a better, fairer and more resilient world. HIC Summit, with the collaboration of Ibiza, the Tourism Strategy Agency of the Balearic Islands AETIB, the Spanish Network of the UN Global Compact, the Spanish Accessible Tourism Network and the Next GenerationEU funds, is the fifth forum of a series of conferences to debate and disseminate cross-cutting aspects of the contribution to sustainable development and the happiness of people, companies and tourist destinations. Through the participation of various national and international experts, HIC managed to promote tourism as a fundamental part of the recovery towards a new social, environmental and economic model that focuses its efforts on understanding the indicators, dimensions and opportunities of circularity, innovation and regenerative culture.
