Regragui: "We want to make history and put Africa at the top of the world"

MADRID, 13 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Morocco coach, Walid Regragui, assured that they want to "make history and put Africa on top of the world" by beating France, "the best team" on the world scene, this Wednesday (8:00 p.m.) in the second semifinal of the World Cup in Qatar, a duel for those who are "hungry" and "confident".

"We want to make history and put Africa at the top of the world. If we were satisfied with being in the semifinals, many people would agree, but I wouldn't. We are among the top four and we want to reach the final," said the coach in the press conference prior to the match against the French team.

Regragui insisted that they want the first final for an African team in a World Cup. "We will try to surprise. Why not reach the final? We are not satisfied with the semifinal, we want to go further. I know we are not favourites, but we are confident," he stressed.

The coach stated that they will fight for their "dream" and seek victory "for Africa". "We want to win for developing countries, from a football point of view. We are confident, a little crazy," Regragui declared.

"The further you go, the more difficult the games are. We are playing against the world champions with world-class players and a very good coach, possibly the best in the world," he analyzed about France.

Morocco will seek a place in the final with the doubts of its two starting central defenders, Nayef Aguerd and Romain Saïss, due to injury. "We have several injuries, but we have an excellent medical staff and they are working very hard and coming up with good news every day," he reported. "No one is out right now, but no one is definitely in either. We will put out the best possible team," he added.

Some 20,000 Moroccan fans are expected to come to the Al Bayt stadium to support their team, for which the 'Atlas Lions' will give "everything" to make "history" for their African "brothers". "I try to be a good example," concluded a Regragui who hopes that his career could "serve as an inspiration" for others in socially disadvantaged areas. "I'm proud of it, but my mission is not to get excited," he settled.
