Rebeka Masarova falls in the Auckland final to Coco Gauff

MADRID, 8 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish tennis player Rebeka Masarova has not been able to lift the title of the Auckland (New Zealand) tournament, in the WTA 250 category and played on hard courts, after falling this Sunday in the final against the American Coco Gauff (6-1, 6- one).

The Basel-born tennis player, number 130 in the world, barely had a chance against the American, who only allowed her to win one serve in each of the two sets held. The number seven in the WTA ranking signed two 'breaks' that earned her the first set.

Already in the second, she opened with a new break and, after Masarova defended her first serve, she linked four games won to close the match, on her second chance, after one hour and 19 minutes of play.

Despite losing in her first final on the circuit, Masarova will experience a great rise in the ranking this Monday, of 36 positions, which will make her enter the 'Top 100', specifically in position 94. Spanish women's tennis cannot achieve a title from a year ago, when Paula Badosa conquered it in the Sydney tournament.
