Real Madrid sings with 'Chacho'

The canary player brings out his best version since his return and the whites consolidate their lead with a 90-72 win over ALBA

MADRID, 17 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Real Madrid took a step forward this Thursday with their victory (90-72) against ALBA Berlin on matchday 8 of the Euroleague, a serious triumph for Chus Mateo's men at the WiZink Center to chain three consecutive victories in the maximum continental competition.

The white team liked it for the moment and began to function as their fans want to gain a run and establish themselves in the 'playoffs' zone (5-3), adding this victory to that of Milan and Efes. Sergio Rodríguez experienced his particular blow at the table, in a return to the capital that had not yet started.

The Canarian point guard distributed 9 assists, with 13 points, and made the direct block work that left the Germans out of action. Poirier (19 points and 7 rebounds), Tavares (8 and 5), Cornelie and Eli Ndiaye dominated the paint and prevented their rival from playing comfortably in quick transition.

Cornelie was the one who led the way (22-8 in six minutes), but it didn't take long for Poirier to cheer up. The return of Nigel Williams-Goss, injured since the last 'Final Four', was also positive but Mateo lost Adam Hanga. Without the Hungarian, 'Chacho' Rodríguez had more prominence remembering old times.

The young Ndiaye imitated his elders well and, despite the fact that ALBA reacted in the second quarter with Procida and Thiemann, Madrid stepped on the accelerator again after the restart. Musa came into action at the start of the third quarter, while Mateo began to distribute minutes without Madrid losing a good defense.

The white team also grew behind on a round day that meant the fifth straight defeat for Israel González's men. Sergio Rodríguez monopolized the end with assists and baskets, also Hezonja with his three-pointer, with a candidate who begins to believe that he can be back in the fight for the eleventh.
