Puigdemont vindicates the declaration of independence: "We have not resigned nor will we resign"

BARCELONA, 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont has vindicated the unilateral declaration of independence (DUI) approved in the Parliament in 2017 that was not published or applied: "We have not resigned nor will we resign, no matter how many efforts some make to back down."

This was expressed this Friday in a publication on the social network 'X' collected by Europa Press, in which he defended that the Parliament "is the legitimate representative of the people of Catalonia"

He has maintained that all peoples have the right to self-determination, in his words, and that "it is based on this legitimation and the results of the referendum of October 1 that six years ago today the Parliament proclaimed the independence of Catalonia."

Puigdemont has defended that the Consell of the Republic has translated it into 25 languages and keeps it "alive for when the independence movement as a whole knows how to come together in a single strategy, overcoming partisan temptations."

"We have to ensure that everything we do does not involve renunciations or deconstruct what we began to build six years ago," he concluded.
