PSOE and ERC reach an agreement on a future amnesty law and announce that they continue to advance in the investiture

PSOE and ERC have reached an agreement on a future amnesty law for those accused of the Catalan sovereignty process and have announced that they are moving forward "decisively" towards an investiture pact for the candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

This agreement was closed this Tuesday afternoon after a telephone conversation between the acting President of the Government and candidate for the investiture, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès.

In that call, and within the framework of the negotiation, Sánchez and Aragonès "have unlocked the last details of the future amnesty law", which will soon be registered in the Congress of Deputies. "Both parties consider their expectations met and their political principles regarding this rule satisfied," the PSOE and ERC said in a statement.

Likewise, the political leaders have delegated to their respective negotiating teams "the definitive closure", scheduled for the next few hours, "of the eventual agreement between both parties to support the investiture", which will have to be approved by the governing bodies. ERC.

The statement from the PSOE and ERC has also announced that the agreement will contain "political and economic issues to be developed during the XV Legislature." At the end of the conversations, the date and place of signing the pact will be communicated.

Precisely, the PSOE explained this Tuesday that it is considering registering the amnesty law proposal in Congress in the coming days, together with Sumar, ERC, Junts, EH Bildu, PNV and BNG, with the idea that Pedro Sánchez can be invested with the next week, they reported in socialist sources.

Last Saturday, during his speech before the Federal Committee, Sánchez openly defended for the first time the amnesty for the accused 'procés' and Aragonès himself also appreciated this defense by the leader of the PSOE, although he pointed out that "it is evident that there are missing more steps."

In addition, the Secretary of Organization of the Socialists, Santos Cerdán, met this Monday in Brussels with the former Catalan president and leader of Junts, Carles Puigdemont, in a meeting in which it was confirmed that the negotiations are progressing "in the right direction" with Junts, as was reaffirmed this Tuesday by sources from the PSOE leadership, who emphasize that their plans involve the investiture being held next week and, furthermore, being done in a first round, without the need for a second vote 48 hours later.

According to these sources, "any day is good" starting on Sunday, which is when the PSOE will close the consultation with the bases on the Government pact with Sumar and the necessary pacts with other parties such as Junts and ERC for the investiture. Sánchez sent a letter to the militants this Monday in which he asked to vote in favor in the consultation and defended the amnesty as "the correct path."
