Podemos will vote against the PSOE amendment for fiscal equalization of confessions and asks it to "rectify"

Unidas Podemos has advanced its vote against the socialist amendment that is meant to extend the fiscal regime of the Catholic Church to the rest of confessions, has asked it to "rectify" and also to take advantage of the "progressive majority" to "revise the concordat" with the Holy See.

"We do not understand this step back that the PSOE is taking today, voting with the PP and Vox to extend those tax exemptions. Today we want to ask the PSOE to rectify this position, and since this debate has been opened, the numbers are given in the Chamber, with a progressive majority, to review the concordat and tax privileges", underlined the deputy of Unidas Podemos Javier Sánchez Serna, in statements to the media in the halls of Congress.

For the Podemos deputy, the proposal to equate the taxation of confessions with agreements with the State --Catholics, Muslims, Jews and Evangelicals-- to confessions with well-known roots but without agreements --Buddhists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Orthodox and Mormons--, which will be voted on Wednesday in the Treasury committee, is "a serious mistake."

In addition, it has made the PSOE ugly, which "has been promising since 2012 the revision of the agreements with the Holy See", both in its electoral program and in its last congress. For this reason, I have urged them to fulfill their promise and move in the direction of neighboring societies such as France and Germany.

Sources from United We Can have advanced that they are going to vote against the socialist amendment to equalize the taxation of all confessions and that it will be included in the patronage law that is being debated this Wednesday in Congress, although they have specified that this rejection has been produced after an intense debate within the confederal group, given that there were voices from other branches of the coalition that were betting on voting in favor of the initiative.

However, they emphasize that the majority position has been to oppose the initiative and that the members attached to the purple formation had a clear position of voting against.
