Podemos summons Díaz to work for the unity of the left and asks his candidates for support for the 28M

MADRID, 10 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Podemos has affirmed that it is up to the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, to work for unity on the left and decide if she wants to be their candidate, through a coalition pact as they have proposed, in addition to once again demanding support for their candidates in the face of the 28M elections.

This was reported at a press conference by the co-spokespersons of the purple formation, Isa Serra and Pablo Fernández, at a press conference this Monday, where they reported that there is currently no progress between Podemos and Sumar in the face of a confluence agreement, beyond that there are contacts inform them between both sides.

In this way, the situation between Podemos and Sumar remains the same with respect to April 2, when the leadership of Podemos did not attend the launch of Díaz's candidacy as they had not previously signed a bilateral pact to deploy open primaries for the future preparation of the electoral lists of the broad front project.

Serra has insisted that Díaz has to be the one who moves and decides if she wants to be the "unity candidate", given that on her part the will to agree is unequivocal, as they have shown in the 28M electoral event that was brewing more coalitions than ever with IU.

While and within the framework of the latest polls on vote estimates in the next basic elections, Fernández has stressed that the electoral unity to the left of the PSOE is "necessary" and "incontrovertible", beyond what the polls may reflect .

Moreover, he has stressed that an agreement between Podemos and Sumar would help to revalue the progressive options, because unity is "the way" to reissue the coalition government and local and regional executives.

Meanwhile, Serra has detailed that proof that unity is "fundamental" for Podemos is his criteria that this agreement reached before the 28M elections to go to that appointment under a common umbrella.

However, for now, he practically rules out that this pact arrives before those elections and calls to focus on working for a broad confluence in the face of the general elections.

Of course, he has asserted that Díaz should support the United Podemos candidates due to the "political importance" that this entails, given that Podemos is the force that promotes great advances at the regional and municipal level and will be able to promote them better if it has "better results".
