Podemos asks the PSOE to take advantage of the final phase of the Housing Law and incorporate limitations on tourist apartments

The purple ones want to guarantee that the large owners do not take their apartments to the tourist market instead of residential rental

We can demand that the PSOE limit the places in tourist apartments in stressed housing market areas to 2% of the number of inhabitants in the area, taking advantage of the final phase of the processing of the Housing Law that is voted on this Thursday in Congress .

In this way, it proposes the option of incorporating this regulation of the rental of tourist apartments in this regulation by means of a transactional amendment, with a view to "guaranteeing" the drop in prices and "preventing vulture funds and large holders from withdrawing properties from the residential market and used for vacation rental".

Specifically, training sources give as an example that if this 2% ceiling is incorporated into the tourist rental offer, in a stressed area with 10,000 inhabitants, no more than 200 tourist rental places could be offered.

On the other hand, they also demand that inspections be strengthened through this transactional amendment to guarantee that all homes for tourist use "have the corresponding prior authorization and to ensure coexistence."

Podemos stresses that the current coalition agreement (section 2.9.6.) establishes the commitment to limit tourist rentals and that this was raised during the negotiation of the rule within the Government. And it is that the purple ones affect that this form of leasing for tourist use "must have a residual character in the stressed areas."

For example, the deputy of the confederal group Gerardo Pisarello urged his coalition partner to emulate the measures approved by the Socialists in Portugal, where, for example, the offer of tourist apartments was limited.

They also indicate that the recent position of entities such as the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodations (Cehat), which warned of a "boom" of tourist apartments, "reveals the need to regulate tourist rentals through the Housing Law to ensure its effectiveness.

"It is about preventing large landlords from using any subterfuge to avoid rent regulation. We have to guarantee that the first housing law of our democracy is complied with to the last comma," they speak from Podemos.

Yesterday in Seville, the General Secretary of Education and Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, asked the PSOE to take advantage of the last steps in Congress with the Housing Law to guide controls on the offer of tourist flats and said that they were waiting for their response.

In fact, the purple formation has placed the regulation of rent and the Housing Law as one of the central elements for the regional and municipal elections, by claiming that its candidates are the ones who will push to apply this regulation and for this it is required that they be stronger in the institutions.

Meanwhile, the PSOE has included in its framework program for the 28M elections to restrict the licenses for tourist apartments.
