PNV believes that Urkullu will call elections with the aim of avoiding "the contagion of state tension" in Euskadi

Mediavilla is betting on the reissue of the pact with PSE if the numbers give and hopes that Andueza keeps its word of not agreeing with EH Bildu

BILBAO, 2 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The institutional head of the PNV, Koldo Mediavilla, believes that there is still some way to go in the current Basque legislature and that the Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, who has the prerogative of calling the elections, will choose the date so that he can avoid "the contagion of tension." "state in Euskadi.

In addition, he has made a bid for the reissue of the pact with the PSE-EE if the numbers give and hopes that the leader of the Basque socialists, Eneko Andueza, keeps his word of not reaching government agreements with EH Bildu, and does not seek " three feet to the cat" after the experience of the Government of Patxi López with the support of the PP, after "the electoral promise" of not agreeing with the popular ones.

In an interview given to Onda Vasca, collected by Europa Press, Mediavilla expressed his confidence that this year, in which there will be Basque regional elections, there will be "rational" political activity that affects the well-being of the people.

In this sense, he has highlighted the Lehendakari's end-of-year message, which confirms "the solid policy of seeking solutions to citizens' problems" that he and the PNV represent and that goes beyond "statements sensationalists who look for easy headlines".

In his opinion, this concluding legislature has been "profitable" and has served to provide "certainty, tranquility and prosperity." Furthermore, he has highlighted that Urkullu will conclude his mandate with his roadmap "absolutely fulfilled." However, he has said that the legislature has not ended and will not end until "the last day of the mandate."

What happens, for Koldo Mediavilla, is that there are political parties "that get up in the morning with the electoral compass in hand in search of an incumbent, political advantage and a space, even if it is by elbowing, nowadays Basque politics".

Meanwhile, he has stated that the thesis of the PNV and the Lehendakari is "to raise the blinds of the country every day, to make it work, perhaps without so much shine, without so much luster, but to make a solid policy against the liquid and gaseous one that is being imposing".

Asked about a possible electoral advance, he recalled that "that is in the hands" of the Lehendakari because it is his prerogative to call elections. "He has already said it and we assume it one hundred percent, that there are a series of matters that must be completed, such as the recovery of those three pending transfers with the central government," he indicated.

Likewise, he explained that there are also a hundred pending actions by the Basque Government "to improve the country's activity." "There is enough material for the legislature to advance as far as it can," he said.

Koldo Mediavilla has said that, in addition, the Lehendakari will make an evaluation of the political context, "mainly in the State", because "it can spread an area of tension that would not be good for it to be transferred to the Basque environment."

On the other hand, he has referred to Osakidetza, to consider that the opposition's criticisms do not adjust to reality. "I want to break a spear in favor of them and their professionals, because we still have a Basque Health Service with problems, which could be improved, but magnificent compared to the others," he stated.

According to him, "what happens is that a vein of criticism has been found by certain political forces in the Osakidetza area and, as it is an absolutely sensitive issue, because it affects everyone," a strategy of creating "a sensation general discomfort, when the truth is that the level of Osakidetza's services are very well considered. "We consider that they perform willingly and with a sufficient level of quality," he maintained.

Mediavilla does not believe that the changes in the PNV respond to "there is wear and tear or there may be a generational change as such", but rather that "political organizations need refreshment to carry out their programs effectively, more focused on the reality of the people, with new impetus and vigor", and even more so in the case of the jeltzale formation.

"I am part of a generation that has been in the PNV all our lives, but that we have already fulfilled a task throughout our mandates. The logical thing is that, taking into account that the PNV has a very solid militant base, there will be refreshments and changes in institutional and internal areas that allow us to continue pedaling this bicycle that still needs to travel many kilometers," he stressed.

In his opinion, "it is good, positive and even necessary that these changes occur every so often", and it is one of the elements that "have given continuity and life throughout this time" to the PNV because "the continuity of a chain does not never breaks."

The institutional leader Jeltzale has endorsed the EBB's decision to propose Imanol Pradales as successor to Iñigo Urkullu, but recalled that the internal electoral process in the party has not concluded.

Koldo Mediavilla has considered that the PSE-EE has provided, together with the PNV, "very relevant" stability to the country's political and institutional activity. For this reason, he is betting that, if possible, after the elections to the Basque Parliament, the Government coalition between Jeltzales and Socialists will be reissued.

In his opinion, this pact between different parties "has been good for the country", and he believes that at this moment "it is very difficult to find other alliance formulas" that give the same degree of stability and tranquility to politics to make it viable. ". "When the formulas are positive, they strangely change," she said.

Koldo Mediavilla trusts that the results of the Basque elections, if citizens "decide to support, when appropriate, the leadership of the PNV", will allow them to "maintain a policy of alliances" with the PSE-EE.

Regarding the PSN's support for the motion of censure that has ousted the mayor of Pamplona from UPN, Cristina Ibarrola, in favor of Joseba Asirón, from EH Bildu, she believes that it has been "a specific exercise" based on the "paralysis in the Iruña City Council", and recalled that the PNV has also supported it through Geroa Bai.

"I don't think it is anything characteristic or special, but we will have to take into account the agreements and support that are being given everywhere at the moment. Since politics is so variable, we will have to keep an eye on the global situation. ", has underlined.

For this reason, he has said that he does not have to distrust the statements of Eneko Andueza, who has ruled out government agreements in Euskadi with EH Bildu, although he has specified that "he will know the level of commitment that his words have."

Along these lines, he recalled that Patxi López, at the time, made an "electoral promise" not to agree with the PP and then governed Euskadi with its support. "Let's hope that these are past situations and, as such, it is better to learn from the previous things than to not look for three feet to the cat," he indicated.

Asked if he fears a hypothetical bypass of EH Bildu, he admitted that the PNV "is always concerned that citizens support it in its policies and proposals." Whether there is a bypass or not, it will be the citizens who determine who best represents them. We believe that people, citizens and the ballot boxes are never wrong," he maintained.

In any case, he has acknowledged that "to some extent" they are worried because "the possibilities of large majorities in the country are going to be very difficult." "We trust that we are a reference party for everyone. We believe that we have a programmatic option and we are going to have the best candidates to carry it out. The PNV's trust is always in its people," he assured.
