Pablo Laso: "I think you will see me next year on a bench"

The basketball coach Pablo Laso acknowledged this Tuesday that his intention is to be able to train next year at a club, at the same time that he confessed that "some" offer has come to him, after his departure from Real Madrid in July 2022, although at the moment he wants to "continue learning".

"I want to train, but you have to be patient to choose the best time and the best place. A coach is always a coach. Some offers have come to me, but I think that right now is a time to continue learning and continue seeing teams and players I think so, you will see me next year on a bench", acknowledged the coach in statements to the media during the AS Sports Awards.

In this sense, the ex of Real Madrid told how his life has changed since his departure from the white club. "I'm very well. Now I choose the matches I want to watch a lot, although I follow the competitions a lot. I see it from another perspective, before I watched them to prepare and now I look at players. It's the situation of a coach who is still a coach, but that he no longer has to prepare matches," he said.

In addition, the Basque coach also expressed his opinion on the signing of Argentine point guard Facundo Campazzo, whom he managed at Real Madrid, for Red Star Belgrade. "Red Star has made a great effort to sign him. What makes me sad is that he did not succeed in the NBA, it was his dream. It seemed that in Dallas he could find a good environment, but it has not been like that. He still has a lot basketball to give," he said.

Lastly, Laso made a special mention of Luka Doncic, whom he also had under his command, and who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks. "I have never had any doubts with Luka. There is one thing that always stands out about him, he has an incredible capacity for adaptability. In the Slovenian team, at Real Madrid and now in the NBA. He is a great player and that capacity for adaptability makes him succeed anywhere," he concluded.
