Norwegian recorded a net profit of 1,736.9 million Norwegian crowns (158.4 million euros) in 2023, a figure that improves the airline's profits by 73% in 2022, as reported by the company this Friday.

Norwegian's operating income reached 25,539.3 million Norwegian crowns (2,252.4 million euros), 35% more than in 2022, while operating profit (Ebit) increased by 49%, to 2,232 million Norwegian crowns (196.4 million euros), "the highest figure in the history of the company."

The airline's operating margin stood at 9% in 2023, also marking a record figure for the company, and its liquidity position improved to end the year at 9.5 billion crowns (836.19 million euros).

"I am delighted to announce that Norwegian achieved record profits in 2023. Our loyal customer base continued to grow and we are grateful for the trust they place in us," said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, in a statement.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, the airline obtained a net profit of 152.8 million Norwegian crowns (13.4 million euros), compared to losses of 119 million Norwegian crowns (10.5 million euros) in the same period. 2022 period.

Between October and December, the company achieved an operating profit of 328 million crowns (28.87 million euros) and a pre-tax profit of 208 million crowns (18.31 million euros).

At the end of the year, Norwegian's fleet consisted of 87 aircraft, of which 20 were state-of-the-art 737 MAX8 aircraft.

Norwegian has reported that its board of directors intends to propose at this year's general meeting of shareholders a dividend of 0.60 crowns (0.053 euros) per share against the 2023 financial year.

The distribution of said dividend is subject to the approval of the holders of the company's debt instruments. If such approval is not obtained, the board has proposed to deposit the dividend amount in a fund for later distribution.

Looking ahead to 2024, the company foresees an operating profit of between 2,500 and 3,200 million crowns (220 to 282 million euros) if certain assumptions are met.

Norwegian is increasing its fleet, up to approximately 90 aircraft, for the peak summer season and forecasts production growth of approximately 12% for the full year.
