More than 400 detainees and several injured after the Israel Police assault on the Al-Aqsa Mosque (Jerusalem)

The Palestinian Detainees Commission has reported that the Israel Police have arrested more than 400 people after their raid on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem early Wednesday morning, an operation that has left several injured.

According to statements by the organization's lawyer, collected by the Palestinian agency Wafa, the detainees have been transferred to the Atarot detention center for investigation, while dozens of injuries of various kinds are reported.

For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent has reported at least seven wounded, two of whom have been taken to hospital, having been attacked and hit by rubber bullets.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has condemned the "aggression of the occupation forces in Al-Aqsa and has warned of its repercussions", through a statement on its social networks with which they have "strongly condemned" the assault and "the launch of bullets and poisonous gas bombs against the faithful".

On Tuesday night, Israel Police forces tried to evacuate the Al-Aqsa Mosque, at a time when hundreds of worshipers were gathered inside as part of the Muslim Ramadan celebration, something that already happened during the last week, also during the religious celebration.

After midnight the riots began, with clashes in which the Police threw stun grenades, tear gas and used rubber bullets, while some of the Palestinians entrenched themselves in one of the rooms of the mosque, responding with the throwing sticks, stones and fireworks directed at the agents.
