Montse Tomé, new women's national soccer team

Montse Tomé has been appointed this Tuesday as the new women's national soccer team, a position in which she takes over from Jorge Vilda, dismissed from his position hours before, as confirmed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

"The RFEF has appointed Montse Tomé as national women's coach and she will be the first woman to hold this position in Spain. Tomé (Pola de Siero, 1982) has acted, since 2018, as second coach within Jorge Vilda's staff and is consolidated itself as a fundamental piece in the growth of the national team. Tomé's appointment responds to the regeneration measures announced by President Pedro Rocha," the organization said in a statement.

The Asturian was one of the names that sounded louder these days to relieve Vilda in the event that he went and was guaranteed by his years at the side of the Madrid coach, who was his 'right hand'. "She knows the dressing room very well and also has extensive knowledge of the excellent national academy," said the RFEF.

In fact, Tomé, a player until 2012, was chosen by Vilda himself in 2018 to take charge of the new Absolute Promises, which served as a bridge with the Absolute.
