Brazil and China could formulate a joint peace proposal on the occasion of Lula's trip to Beijing next week

The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has pointed out that, despite the fact that Russia "cannot keep" all the territory gained in Ukraine, it is likely that it will maintain control over Crimea; while in kyiv they have to admit that "you can't have everything you want".

According to Lula, Russian President Vladimir Putin has to assume that "he cannot keep the land in Ukraine." "Perhaps Crimea will not be discussed, but we will have to rethink what was invaded later," said the Brazilian president, according to the G1 news portal.

Regarding the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, Lula considers that he has to realize that "he cannot have everything he thinks he is going to have", and has insisted that the Atlantic Alliance "will not be able to settle on the border" with Russia .

However, the Ukrainian authorities have not been slow to step forward to thank Lula for his "efforts" in trying to find a way out of the conflict, but at the same time they have asserted that they will not cede what they consider their territory in order to facilitate a truce with Russia.

"Ukraine appreciates the efforts of the Brazilian president to find a solution to stop Russian aggression. At the same time we must clearly state that Ukraine does not trade with its territories," Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said.

"There is no legal, political or moral reason why we should give up even one centimeter of Ukrainian land," Nikolenko stressed, reiterating that Kiev's position requires respect for its national sovereignty and the full restoration of its territorial integrity, gathers UNIAN.

"All of this is an issue that we have on the table," reported the Brazilian president, who will travel to China next Tuesday to discuss the situation in Ukraine with his counterpart Xi Jinping, among other issues.

Xi and Lula are expected to sign a series of agreements, including a joint proposal to end the war. Both Brasilia and Beijing have sometimes been equidistant from hostilities in Eastern Europe, and have been accused of siding with Russia.

Beijing already formulated a peace proposal last February which, however, was rejected by a large part of the international community as it pointed to a cessation of hostilities in the current positions, thus legitimizing the presence of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory.

Brazil, for its part, has also shown itself willing to row in favor of peace in Ukraine, although its proposal has always been aimed at establishing a path of dialogue with the parties to the conflict and in which countries not involved in the hostilities participate. .
