López Miras urges Vox Murcia to apply the "sense of State" of its national leadership: Why are they blocking?

MURCIA, 7 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the PP in the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, has criticized that VOX Murcia "does not want to sit down and reach an agreement that could mean unblocking the situation" in the Community, since he recalled that a few days ago He asked for a meeting to move forward; a meeting that "first they confirmed, an hour later they suspended it and until now we are in that situation." This question contrasts with the position of VOX at the national level, which, in the opinion of López Miras, "is an exercise in responsibility."

"It shows a sense of State. And I think that the same responsibility, that sense of State, VOX of the Region of Murcia would also have to apply, unblocking the situation," he said in an interview on the Al Rojo Vivo program on Sexta TV, collected by Europa Press.

In a political key, he has once again recalled that in the Region of Murcia, the PP "has 47% of the deputies of the autonomous Parliament", for which he insists that "there is no possible alternative to the government of the Popular Party".

"The only way for the PP not to govern in the Region of Murcia is if VOX continues to block, vote against the PP government together with Podemos and PSOE and lead us to an electoral repetition," he warns.

And it is that, he points out, "with the result that has been obtained in the Region of Murcia having 43% of the votes, 47% of the regional deputies, the legitimate thing in a democracy is to govern alone. This is not new, since this is how Aznar governed in 1996, Zapatero during his two terms, Rajoy in 2015 and Pedro Sánchez in these last legislatures".

For this reason, he has confessed that he does not understand VOX's attitude, "why he wants to block, why he wants to lead Murcia to an electoral repetition."

After the statement from the national VOX management, he has stated that he has not had any contact with the training in Murcia; "The only thing we know is the statement that was quickly launched yesterday from Murcia saying that they maintained the blockade and we were approaching the electoral repetition."

"I do not understand this attitude of VOX. In the last week of July we asked them for a meeting to reach an agreement to negotiate. First they said yes to that meeting, after an hour they said no and gave a press conference saying that what they demanded was the vice-presidency of the government of Murcia to coordinate the action of the ministries, two ministries and also assess the suitability of the advisers appointed by the PP".

In the opinion of López Miras, "to demand this, to blackmail with this a party that has obtained 43% of the votes and has 47% of the deputies in Parliament, which has been left with only two deputies from the absolute majority and that there is no possible alternative government, that we only require abstention, of course that is to say that they want to go to elections, to say that they want to repeat the elections in Murcia".

"We do not need the yes of VOX or the explicit support of VOX, we only need an abstention, that is, that they do not block," insists the president of the PP in Murcia, who stresses that if the 'populares' do not form a government in the Region of Murcia "will not be because it has not obtained a sufficient result, it will be because VOX voted together with PSOE and Podemos and blocked that investiture."

Asked about the controversy that occurred in Molina de Segura, due to the elimination of the Department of Equality, he recalled that "the town halls are autonomous and, therefore, each town hall has autonomy to establish the reorganization in terms of the departments they deem appropriate" .

The important thing, he says, "is that there be a policy of equality in all the town halls governed by the Popular Party. And that is what I am going to demand and what I demand as president of the Popular Party of the Region of Murcia, that the equality of opportunities between men and women, equal opportunities among all social groups in the Region is respected and has a place in our policies and we work so that everyone".

"Any man, woman, who lives in the Region of Murcia has the same opportunities. That is what I demand, beyond the name of a council or the reorganization of powers", he defended, to later make it clear that in that sense will not take "a step back".

On whether he will maintain the Ministry of Equality in the Region, he stressed that "what we have is also a Ministry of Families and Social Policy and I am satisfied with the work of that ministry and of the counselor, with the policies that we are deploying".

"Nothing tells me that I should change any structure of that council, therefore I believe that it is a council that works, and what works must be maintained", he concluded.
