Lagarde (ECB) affirms that growth in the eurozone has slowed, but will rebound in two years

Encourages strengthening the resilience of the economy, but "being open to others"

The president of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, stated this Friday that the euro zone is experiencing a slowdown in growth, but that recovery will come over the next two years.

"Growth is slower, but recovery will come in the next two years. So we are going through a cycle," Lagarde explained when interviewed at the meeting organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Marrakech (Morocco).

Later, the former French Minister of Economy has assured that the ECB must focus on its mission of controlling inflation, since, in this way, "a better place" can be built. In this sense, Lagarde has emphasized the importance of "equipping" and increasing the resilience of the European economy to be "strong", but "being open to others."

"I think this addresses the issue of structural reforms that must be implemented, since resilience necessarily involves better distribution and fighting climate change," he elaborated.

On the other hand, Lagarde has also stressed that international cooperation, "dialogue" and "tolerance of different opinions" are key at this time in which development banks and international financial institutions seek to transform.

According to the president of the ECB, these reforms "can truly help the most vulnerable, as well as combat climate change."
