Joan Mir: "From the Honda 2023 I prefer braking and entering corners"

MADRID, 13 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish rider Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) has assured that he had "very good feelings" in the Sepang MotoGP pre-season test, highlighting "braking and corner entry" as strong points of his new bike.

"From the 2023 Honda I prefer the braking and entry into curves. It is a motorcycle that allows you to brake quite late and hold the brake until the last moment. I think that this is a very positive point that this motorcycle has", he declared in an interview with the team's official media.

Even so, he considers that he will need "a little time" to adapt. "Regarding the riding, little by little I'm improving the times and I'm riding in an effective way, so I don't think I have to change my style much. I also think the electronics have to adapt a bit to my riding style and I think it has to be reciprocal: the bike has to give me a little and I have to adapt to it", he stressed.

In another order of things, he was satisfied with the sensations in the tests in Valencia and Sepang. "The sensations are being very good. I am enjoying this experience, which is necessary in the end. Taking a motorcycle from scratch is a cool experience because you have to start to get sensations and improve lap by lap and see how you improve little by little, And that's nice," he said.

"I am feeling very well with the team. I have more and more confidence with them because in all the changes there is always an adaptation process and the truth is that I am feeling at home and very happy", he continued.

He also recounted how he has prepared himself physically to face the new season. "You always think that you prepare the best you know how, training as well as you can. When you get to the first or second day you realize that it has nothing to do with preparing a season in a gym with dirt bikes or with any which, with a MotoGP, since the muscles you use are completely different. Even so, the truth is that I feel strong. The Sepang tests are always a strong experience and a challenge for all the pilots", he pointed out.

Finally, Mir explained that he had not met his new teammate, Marc Márquez, on the track and that each one is "working on their own". "These tests are very important and you have to be focused instead of starting to follow other drivers. In tests I always like to find a free track and that's a bit what I've done," he concluded.
