The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, commented this Thursday that "there is no legal basis" for his accusation in the 'Negreira case', which he believes will end in nothing because there is "neither bribery nor continued crime", and he regretted also the existence of a "sociological Madridism in the centers of power."
"Knowing the history of this judge, he had numbers of ending up investigated. But there is no basis and there is no bribery. There is no continued crime. The prosecution described it as sports corruption but in no case bribery. The judge is forcing this whole story. A judge instructor. It's quite surprising," he said in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio.
"I am very clear that all Barcelona fans can rest assured because this case will end up being archived. The judge's hypothesis is that we have bought referees and they have not proven that. And they cannot because it is not true," Laporta appealed.
In this sense, the Blaugrana president assured that "there is no bribery" because Negreira "is not a public official." "Criminal types cannot be forced. There is no bribery here, it is not a continuing crime so it is not prescribed," he defended.
Laporta also regretted that there is a "sociological Madridism in the centers of power." "I have competed against this sociological Madridism and I have won. They are afraid that what happened in my first stage will be repeated. We won a lot and that hurt them a lot. They suffered a lot," he argued.
"We are used to fighting against this. This madridismo is in the media, in the world of sport. We have to accept this normally but as 'culers' we must know that we must compete against this. They are terrified that we will repeat what we already did , that we win everything again," he reiterated.
"In the Negreira case, we will see if we reach trial. I am a lawyer and I am calm because this cannot prosper. We have a very good legal team. Real Madrid fans have taken advantage of the Negreira case to tarnish the name of Barça and its history. And destabilize us and control it," he summarized.
