Israel responds with drones and artillery to two rocket attacks launched from Syria

The Israeli Army has reported the use of artillery and drones in response to the two rocket attacks launched from Syria during the early hours of this Sunday against the Syrian Golan Heights controlled by Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have concentrated their response on the places from where the projectiles have been launched, such as a military compound, radar and artillery positions.

"All the attacks were carried out after the rocket fire that took place tonight from Syrian territory towards Israel. The IDF holds the Syrian state responsible for everything that happens on its territory and will not allow attempts to violate Israel's sovereignty." , the IDF has confirmed on its Twitter account.

At least three missiles have reached Israeli territory, although no damage has been reported.

The two waves of bombardments have consisted of three missiles each, and only one of them --belonging to the second attack-- has been intercepted by the anti-aircraft system known as the Iron Dome, a system of radars and surface-to-air missiles designed to intercept this type of attacks directed against populated populations.

The authorities of the Golan Heights have ordered the opening of the anti-aircraft shelters and have asked the population to go to them.
