Irene Montero calls for an ideological battle against the right and questions that a certain progressivism sees it as "noise"

He warns that Vox and Ayuso launch their "ideological pills" on a daily basis and that, especially feminists, they should not remain silent in the face of this drift

MADRID, 23 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, has warned that the extreme right deploys its "ideological pills" on a daily basis and defends that the left should not remain silent but fight them, despite the fact that "certain sectors of progressivism" think that this is generating " noise".

In his opinion, this cultural battle must be undertaken and "fight to offer more rights to the citizenry", since otherwise the reactionary movement could achieve victory even before the elections.

"It is a deeply ideological moment. If we legitimize the extreme right or the extreme right is the one that gives ideological pills every day (...) and if we are to remain silent, what they do is destroy us before winning an election, because they have devastated us culturally," he said in statements to Canal Red.

The head of Equality has cited Vox and the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, as examples of this strategy, and questions that from some progressive sectors, without making any specific mention in this case, "talk about noise" and shy away from this ideological struggle so as not to fall into the "reactionary offensive", with a view to "not giving it any more balls" and for people to find out for themselves.

Given this, Montero has defended that the ideological is material and is not at odds with a discourse on "things to eat", since the model of society and the rights of women, the LGTBi-tras collective and racialized people are at stake. They are "urgent".

On the other hand, Montero has argued that this "reactionary wave" is not limited to the sphere of institutional politics, but with "deep State" structures, which set feminism as enemies and deploy "political violence" to "discipline" women. this "democratic" movement.

And it is that part of the success of this reactionary impulse is that "there are very harsh consequences in the lives of those who temporarily put themselves in the front line to provoke and to advance democracy and rights."

Montero has also denounced, in his opinion, that there is an "enormous job" of the media powers in this cultural battle, of "normalization and whitening" of reactionary positions.

"Now it is as normal to talk about domestic violence as it is to talk about sexist violence, which are simply opinions, two opinions and not a correct way of approaching a problem, which revictimizes and continues to blame women for the violence they suffer," has delved.

However, the also 'number two' of the purple formation wanted to end with an "allegation against impotence" and calls not to think that "there is nothing to do" in the face of this reactionary wave, despite having "very powerful" tools ".

And in this sense, he has stressed that the left has achieved historic victories, such as in Chile and Colombia in the case of Latin America or ending bipartisanship in Spain, with the formation of the coalition government and its social advances.

"Feminists, and particularly those of us who are in the crosshairs of this reactionary wave, is not to be silent and fight and offer more rights in the face of this reactionary wave," Montero has settled.
