Huawei and Ericsson sign a global patent agreement for technology standards linked to 3G, 4G and 5G

MADRID, 25 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Huawei and Ericsson have signed a long-term global patent cross-licensing agreement for different technology standards -- such as 3GPP, ITU, IEEE, and IETF -- for 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile technologies, the two companies have reported in separate communications. .

The agreement covers the companies' respective sales of network infrastructure and consumer devices, granting both companies worldwide access to the other company's proprietary and standardized technologies.

"As major contributors to standard essential patents (SEPs) for mobile communication, our companies recognize the value of each other's intellectual property, creating a stronger patent environment. Demonstrating the commitment that both parties have forged so that intellectual property must be properly respected and protected," said Alan Fan, director of Huawei's Intellectual Property department.

By cross-licensing their standard essential patents, both companies will be able to share and access "key technologies," Huawei said.

Fan added that "this agreement is the result of intense work that ensures that the interests of both patent holders and implementers are fairly served."
