Hamas appreciates Sánchez's "clear and bold" stance on the Israeli offensive in Gaza

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has positively valued the "clear and bold" stance of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander de Croo, regarding the military offensive of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). ) in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian militia has issued a statement spread on social networks in which it praises the condemnation of the Spanish and Belgian leaders of the death of Palestinian civilians at the hands of the IDF, and also highlights Sánchez's announcement about the possibility that Madrid recognize the legitimacy of the Palestinian State.

"We value the clear and bold stance of the Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo, who rejected the destruction of Gaza and the death of civilians, and of the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, who condemned the indiscriminate killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip by the occupying regime and pointed out the possibility that his country would make a unilateral decision to recognize the Palestinian State if the European Union does not take this step," the group indicated.

Likewise, Hamas has taken the opportunity to call on the international community to "stand on the side of justice for the Palestinian cause" and the right to "self-determination" to establish an "independent State." Along these lines, he has demanded the end of the "genocidal war" started by Israel. He also calls for Israeli leaders to "be held accountable for their crimes against children and defenseless civilians."

Sánchez and De Croo have made a joint visit to the Middle East that has led them to meet with the main authorities of the region and included a stop on the Egyptian side of the Rafá crossing, where both held a press appearance in which they condemned the situation.

Both leaders showed their resounding rejection of the Hamas offensive on October 7 – in which nearly 1,200 people died and another 240 were taken hostage – and stressed Israel's right to defend itself, although they denounced the indiscriminate death of civilians. : more than 14,800 since the start of the bloody counteroffensive.

The statements of Sánchez and De Croo did not sit well with Israel, which summoned the respective ambassadors of Spain and Belgium to express their disagreement. Furthermore, Israeli diplomacy accused President Sánchez of "supporting terrorism" by the Palestinian militia.
