Government says that the strawberries with Hepatitis A were withdrawn after the Foreign Health alert and did not reach the consumer

SEVILLA, 6 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Ministry of Health indicated this Wednesday that the strawberries from Morocco in which Hepatitis A has been detected were withdrawn from circulation after the Foreign Health alert.

Sources from the Ministry of Health have assured that the product had not reached the consumer when its traceability was carried out to remove it, since they have highlighted that the controls "are ordinary, daily procedures that work."

For his part, the president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, has confirmed that these strawberries entered through the port of Algeciras (Cádiz), and that both the importer, from the province of Huelva, and the distributor, from the province, have already been located. province of Seville, who has assured that "he did not put them on the market." In this regard, he has asked the central government and, specifically, Foreign Health for more control at the borders.

The Andalusian president explained that the Board received the notice on Monday afternoon and, in just 24 hours, in a "record" time, the importer and distributor were already located and the traceability of the product was carried out. "We are doing all the appropriate checks to ensure that they have not been distributed and, above all, that they have not been consumed, which is what worries us," he stressed.
