Gasoline marks its minimum annual price in the middle of the Constitution Bridge after accumulating a decrease of 11%

The average price of gasoline has fallen this week to its annual minimum after reaching 1.572 euros per liter, which means that this fuel has already accumulated a decrease of 10.7% since it began a downward spiral at the end of September.

Specifically, the average price of a liter of gasoline has decreased by 0.82% this week compared to last, thus accumulating its tenth consecutive decrease, according to data from the European Union Petroleum Bulletin collected by Europa Press.

It would be necessary to go back to the end of last year, when the Government's bonus of at least 20 cents per liter for fuel was still in force, to find a cheaper price.

For its part, diesel has had its ninth consecutive week of declines, with a drop of 0.96% compared to the previous week, to 1.543 euros for the average price per liter.

Thus, the price of a liter of diesel has decreased by 8.6% since the beginning of October and falls to levels not seen since the end of July.

This reduction in fuel prices occurs in the middle of the Constitution Bridge, one of the biggest of the year and in which the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) foresees almost eight million trips from last Tuesday until next Sunday.

With this downward spiral, the price of a liter of gasoline remains below the levels at which it was before the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine -1,592 euros per liter-, which began on February 24, 2022. In the In the case of diesel, it still remains above the price then -1,479 euros per liter-.

Furthermore, these falls continue to further distance both fuels from the highs recorded in the summer of 2022, in July, when gasoline reached 2,141 euros and diesel reached 2.1 euros.

Despite these decreases, with current prices, filling an average 55-liter tank of gasoline costs 86.5 euros, about 4.6 euros more than on the same dates in 2022, when it amounted to about 81.8 euros. euros, including the discount of 20 cents per liter in force at that time.

For diesel vehicles, filling an average tank (55 liters) represents an outlay of 84.8 euros, about 1.2 euros less than in the same period of 2022, at which time the price was 86 euros taking into account the discount.

Last year, due to the increase in fuel prices due to the energy crisis caused by the war, the minimum bonus of 20 cents per liter of fuel for all citizens approved by the Government within its plan was in force. response to the impact of the war in Ukraine.

Likewise, with this, diesel has been below the price of gasoline for 41 consecutive weeks. Thus, it remains in the usual situation prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which caused the price of diesel to be more expensive than that of gasoline continuously from August 2022 until mid-February of this year, when the dynamic was broken. .

The price of fuel depends on multiple factors, such as its specific price (independent of that of oil), the evolution of crude oil, taxes, the cost of raw materials and logistics, and gross margins. Furthermore, the evolution in the price of crude oil is not directly transferred to fuel prices, but rather does so with a time lag.

With these levels, the price of 95 unleaded gasoline in Spain remains below the average of the European Union, located at 1,704 euros per liter, and of the eurozone, with an average price of 1,751 euros.

In the case of diesel, the price in Spain is also lower than the EU average, which is 1,683 euros, and the euro zone, where the price is 1,708 euros.
