García Adanero, expelled from UPN for voting against the labor reform, will continue in Congress thanks to the CERA vote

MADRID, 29 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Carlos García Adanero, who was expelled from the Unión del Pueblo Navarro (UPN) for voting against the coalition government's labor reform in disobeying the leadership of his party, will continue as a deputy in Congress thanks to the votes of the emigrants who have given the PP one more seat for Madrid to the detriment of the PSOE.

Although the Provincial Electoral Board has not yet provided the result of the general scrutiny that started this Friday, the PSOE has already given up the eleventh seat for Madrid that was attributed to it with the provisional results of last Sunday, an act that will pass into the hands of García Adanero, who came in sixteenth place in the candidacy led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

It was in February 2022 when the UPN leadership decided to expel Carlos García Adanero and Sergio Sayas from the party for two and a half years, their two deputies in Congress who refused to support the labor reform, ignoring the guidelines of the party leadership.

Both Sayas and García Adanero will continue in Congress in the new legislature, but no longer in the Mixed Group, but within the Popular Group. The former headed the PP list for Navarra in the July 23 elections and the latter has managed to retain his seat thanks to the general scrutiny in Madrid, through which the 'populares' go from 15 to 16 deputies for this constituency.

In addition, García Adanero was the PP candidate for mayor of Pamplona in the May 28 elections and will be able to reconcile his seat in the Carrera de San Jerónimo with that of councilor in the capital of Navarre.

In contrast, the person who has been left without a seat in Congress has been Javier Rodríguez Palacios, mayor of Alcalá de Henares until the May elections and who ran eleventh on the PSOE list headed by Pedro Sánchez.
