Gamarra sees "justified" to give freedom of vote in "conscience" before a debate on surrogacy

MADRID, 7 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of the PP and spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, Cuca Gamarra, has stated that the PP is willing to open "a debate" with "seriousness and rigor" on surrogacy, and believes that it would be "justified" to give freedom to parliamentarians to vote conscientiously on this issue.

"At the moment we are not considering any type of initiative. What we have transferred is that such deep debates and that have so many edges and different ways of thinking and seeing it on the part of Spanish society, we must always face them seriously , rigorously and responsibly", explained Gamarra, in an interview with Europa Press.

In this sense, he has insisted that, on the part of the PP, "there is no problem" when facing this debate "with social participation, listening to the different opinions and the experts", something that, in his opinion, is not It has done with other regulations such as "the trans law, which has not been debated, nor has there been a study, a serious debate in the parliamentary framework" to analyze "the pros and cons."

"It is a very recent example that shows that things are not being done that way. And that is a great social failure, but it has names and surnames and it is also sanchismo," he remarked.

Asked if there can be freedom of vote, in conscience, within a party, before a debate on surrogacy, Gamarra considers that it would be "perfectly justified" but has clarified that it is an "internal party matter".

"It could happen, that is to say, that is a more internal matter of the parties and, obviously, they are matters of conscience, in which it could be perfectly justified that this possibility be developed," he indicated, adding that it is not something that they should " shun".
