Fátima (not her real name) is a Moroccan woman who was the victim of gender violence by her ex-partner, who threatened her "with a large knife every day", as she stated in an interview with Europa Press, on the occasion of the International Day of the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated this November 25.

A total of 52 women have been allegedly murdered due to gender violence so far this year, two more than in all of 2022. In addition, in 2023 there have been 29 attempted homicides for this reason, as revealed by the Sala prosecutor. of Violence against Women, Teresa Peramato, in an interview with Europa Press. Information that he has considered "valuable", since it can provide data, until now unknown, by the survivors of these acts.

In this sense, the president of the Observatory against Domestic and Gender Violence of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), Ángeles Carmona, has revealed in an interview with Europa Press that about 10,000 cases of women with injuries are investigated each year in Spain. serious due to sexist violence.

According to Fátima, in her case the threats and humiliation were daily, but, through tears, she remembers some of the hardest moments, both for herself and her children. One of these points out that it was when her water broke while pregnant with her second child. "She told me that we would go to the hospital when I was going to arrive already dead," she emphasizes to ensure that she, finally, had the child in the car.

In addition, he highlights that for a certain time he had to sleep with his two youngest children on a mattress without springs, while his ex-partner did so in a new bed.

After putting an end to her situation, Fátima turned to the Alanna Association, which offered her support, help and shelter during the most difficult days. In fact, she claims that she was evicted from the apartment where she lived with her ex-partner, so she had to stay in one of the association's facilities.

The judicial procedure in Fátima has not yet concluded but a Valencian investigating court issued an order, to which Europa Press has had access, to prohibit her ex-partner from coming within 200 meters of her home, as well as her place of work and from any place you frequent. In addition, at the time, a protection order was granted to the victim.
