Five young people are arrested for murdering a man in Lanzarote with whom they had had several altercations

Agents of the National Police have arrested five young people -three of Colombian nationality and two of Moroccans-, between the ages of 20 and 22, three of them with a police record, as alleged perpetrators of the murder of a man, of Moroccan origin, in November 2022, with whom they had had several altercations in Arrecife (Lanzarote).

The arrest occurred after numerous calls alerted the 091 telephone number on November 21, 2022, to a fatal assault with a knife next to a canopy on Vía Medular in Arrecife, where the victim had been premeditatedly assaulted by five people. that they beat him and stabbed him to death in the head, neck and thorax, as reported by the National Police in a statement.

The agents who appeared at the scene verified that the victim, who was lying on the ground, was bleeding profusely from the neck and chest, so due to the seriousness of the injuries, the health emergency personnel could not more than certifying his death minutes later.

Given the events that occurred, the National Police began an investigation in which they collected information from several witnesses who stated that five young people premeditated beating the deceased when he was leaving a public service vehicle.

The police investigation then focused on two groups that had had several altercations with the deceased days before. The first altercation was between the victim and another Moroccan citizen in a parking lot in the La Inés area where injuries were caused by a knife, while the other incident was with a group of Colombian citizens, known to the aforementioned, with whom the deceased argued and insulted days ago.

In this way, the agents were able to verify, without any doubt, how all of them had participated in the attack that led to the death of the victim in November.

However, four of those investigated had fled Lanzarote after allegedly killing the man, although they recently returned to the island after being certain that the crime committed would go unpunished.

However, in the early hours of April 19, the Special Security Operations Group, the Prevention and Reaction Unit, and the Air Resources Service, coordinated by the Homicide group of the Judicial Police of the Canary Islands Police Headquarters, carried out carried out a police operation in Arrecife that concluded with the arrest of all those investigated as perpetrators of a crime of murder.

After being made available to the competent Judicial Authority, the immediate imprisonment of all those arrested has been decreed.
