Feijóo will "deactivate" the bilateral table with Catalonia that Sánchez promoted with the independence movement if he arrives in Moncloa

'Génova' stresses that "any bilateral dialogue cannot refer to issues that affect all Spaniards"

MADRID, 7 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP and candidate of the PP for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will "deactivate" the bilateral table with the Generalitat of Catalonia that the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, established with the independence movement if he arrives at the Moncloa Palace, according to 'popular' sources have assured.

In an interview published this Friday in 'El Periódico de España', when expressly asked if the dialogue table should be maintained or not, Feijóo replied that he has "no interest in going against any table if it is constituted and has as its objective It is essential to deal with issues that do not affect others".

"I cannot deal with issues that affect others at a table without informing the others. I will ask the Generalitat of Catalonia, in addition to maintaining a fluid dialogue with its authorities, to join the multilateral table that is the Conference of Presidents and the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council", added Feijóo in the aforementioned interview.

PP sources have indicated later that in that interview the president of the Popular Party has said that "he will maintain the dialogue with the Generalitat of Catalonia, as he will do with the rest of the Communities to address the issues that specifically affect each territory." As they have added, "any bilateral dialogue cannot refer to issues that affect all Spaniards."

"Therefore, the bilateral table that Sánchez established with the independence movement, in which the Government of Spain and the Catalan Government are treated as equals, will be deactivated if Feijóo achieves the confidence of the majority of the Spaniards. Neither in its form nor in its fund responds to the previous objectives", have stressed PP sources, who have added that "there will be dialogue, but not submission".

Precisely this morning, in his speech at the Andalusia Tribune of the New Economy Forum, which was presented by the Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, Feijóo defended the importance of the Conference of Presidents but also of "resolving issues bilaterally".

"Everything that affects everyone has to be dealt with together and everything that affects the administration of an autonomous community and the Central Administration bilaterally can be dealt with bilaterally. But that is the basic rule," he explained.

At this point, he recalled the phrase of former socialist president José Bono assuring that "they want to eat them alone, they want to eat more." As he has said, he was from the "old PSOE" and now "it seems that those who want to eat alone have to give them more." "Well, I think not", she added.

On this point, he has criticized the fact that the current regional financing system was agreed upon by former President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero with the Catalan tripartite in a "bilateral" way and then extended "compulsorily to the rest of the autonomous communities".
