He says that it is "substantially a good reform": "It is the labor reform of the Popular Party with some adjustments"

BRUSSELS, June 29 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has assured this Thursday that if he arrives at the Moncloa Palace, he will maintain the "trunk" of the labor reform approved in February 2022 by the Government of PSOE and Unidas Podemos, a regulation that the PP led by Pablo Casado rejected in Parliament. In his opinion, it is "substantially" a "good reform" that has the consensus of the social agents, something that he sees as "very important."

"It is the labor reform of the Popular Party with some adjustments," he stated at a press conference in Brussels after the meeting of the European Popular Party (EPP). Thus, he has clarified that he has not said that he will not "respect" the labor reform if he arrives at the Palacio de la Moncloa.

The Executive of Pedro Sánchez carried out this labor reform in February of a year ago thanks to the mistake of the deputy of the Popular Group Alberto Casero in the Plenary Session of Congress. In that vote, the two deputies of the Unión del Pueblo Navarro (UPN) broke the voting discipline and voted together with the Popular Group, a fact for which they were expedited.

Feijóo has stressed that this labor reform is "the product of the agreement between unions and employers" and has added that this agreement is "very important" for his party. As he added, if he arrives at the Moncloa Palace, he will call the social agents again and "see if some complaints" that they are receiving from some productive sectors such as the automotive sector can "improve" that standard and make "some adjustments".

"But that agreed labor reform, I am going to respect it," he said, adding that "within his proposals" for the July 23 elections "it is not" modifying or repealing that labor reform.

The head of the opposition has indicated that he understands that it is "substantially a good reform". "It is the labor reform of the Popular Party with some adjustments, with union and employer consensus, and for me that is very important," he went on, adding that if "any adjustment" has to be made, they will do it, but "the trunk of the reform employment will remain."

"And if the unions and employers understand that the reform must remain intact, it will not be part of my priorities to modify it," reiterated the president of the 'populares' in his appearance in Brussels before the media.

One more day, the president of the PP has reproached the president of the Government for insisting that the Spanish economy is going like a motorcycle when the country is at the tail of growth in the EU and families have seen their mortgages increased by an average of 300 euros .

"Saying this is simply a lie and a lack of respect for the truth, reality and citizens," Feijóo highlighted, the same day it became known that inflation moderated by more than half a point in June, to 1.9 % and the underlying has fallen to 5.9%.

In this scenario, the head of the opposition has defended in Brussels his proposal to lower personal income tax for income of less than 40,000 euros because "that really helps families", a measure that will form part of his electoral program for the elections of July 23.
